    Can you enlighten me on why he has the hands of a dwarf? They’re disproportionately small, especially considering their being in the foreground, and strangely deformed. At least as seen with my present-day expectations.

    Overall, I feel like I’m looking at at picture of a madman. It makes me wonder if Gossaert was hiding a private commentaries in his artwork. If he did, he would have to be very discrete about it. Royalty being how they are.
    The many fine details would make an excellent hiding place, I think.
