Comment on Stranger in an Un-Strange World: An interview with Brad Neely by Pete Q

Brads stuff is just awesome. It makes me think and laugh. The kind of thing that art is really suppose to do. It can help the audience understand the world a little better than when they started. It was a good interview and it was interesting to get an insight on how Brad thinks and works. It was also good to get another perspective on his work. I thought BC was retarded also, so don't feel bad.. I don't think Brad really wants us to have a high regard for any of his caricature's personally. They are usually so self absorbed the rest of the world doesn't really matter to them at all. I like Brads stills a lot but not as much as his other stuff. When he mixes his comic strips and his music ( each that would fail on there own ) some kind of crazy magic comes out of it. It radiates genus in every direction. From matching a mood to the relevance of whats going on in the story. In a blunt world thats so unique and disturbing it defies proper description for me. I pray Mr Neely may soon find a proper venue for his work. One that will properly reward him financially WITHOUT making him jump threw any hoops to make him PC or "appeal to a larger demographic".

Thank you for realizing Mr. Neely is well worth interviewing and exposing to a larger audience !!

Hej Simon,

Hej, Matthias. Tak for omtalen.

I'm not completely into video games and I without a doubt loved this movie. The style and feel and the sharpness of this movie just made everything for me. It also helped with the mind blowing visual eye candy going for it. Though? I'm not into gaming culture, it was still so much fun to watch and I got into it and loved every minute of it. I would absolutely recommend Scott Pilgrim.

Comment on Roskilde 2010: A Look Back by Matthias Wivel

Sure, they just seem to me groups that were much more interesting and had a bigger draw ten years ago, and they had both been touring recently, making their presence at Roskilde prime time less understandable, especially if the festival wants to attract an international audience.

The third big Danish name, Nephew, was a timely choice and did seem like an unqualified success. That I happen to hate their music shouldn't detract from that, although they're bordering on the kind of pop music that the festival doesn't normally cover.

As for Gorillaz, I've also heard different things; nobody I spoke to was unreservedly enthusiastic, but a few of the reviews were surprisingly positive, so maybe I'm totally wrong there.

I completely agree with the overall sentiment here. Just one minor quibble: It may be a bit much to call Dizzy Mizz Lizzy and Kashmir "a substantial amount of ... veteran Danish acts without much current relevance" - especially since Kashmir are still releasing albums to substantial sales and at least some critical acclaim.

The Gorillaz-concert seems to have been quite the divisive experience: I've heard a lot of both good and bad things about it and regret not having been able to check it out for myself ...

Comment on Who Is Harvey Pekar? by Matthias Wivel

Thanks for your comments! Considering his importance, it's quite striking how under the radar Pekar had become in recent years. It's a little like the Hernandez Brothers--he had been around for so long that most people took him for granted and stopped paying attention, despite the fact that he was still producing at a steady pace.

I know I did--I haven't read much by him since Our Cancer Year, and I've heard that not all of it is up to snuff, but I think I shall go look closer for myself now.
